John fell in love with photography the first time he picked up a Polaroid camera at the age of 10. His first formal training was in high school, where he learned black and white photography and darkroom techniques. Then he set out to explore the world, first in college at University of North Carolina studying the history of the non-western world and then traveling through Turkey, Thailand, Australia and New Zealand.
